Every PRO GEAR PG Series model is TRUE 2-piece reel! The
deceptive claims of 1- and 2-piece body construction of other manufactures
are simply untrue. |
| Disassemble a PRO GEAR PG and COUNT the
number of frame/body parts: TWO, period, the single piece machined frame,
and the right side plate. Other so-called one and two piece reels consist of
three and even four components: frame, left plate, right plate, and gear
housing, held in place by numerous screws which can and do work loose, all
of which compromise rigidity, alignment, and structural integrity. The right
side plate and gear housing of a PRO GEAR PG is a single part, precisely
machined to fit like a puzzle placed into the recess of the right side of
the frame, anchored securely by two screws. This configuration guarantees
rigidity, perfect bearing and spool alignment, and unfailing structural
integrity under load. The left bearing end cap allows minimal adjustment due
to the .001" tolerance designed into each reel. |

SIMPLICITY
The fewer parts in a mechanism,
the more reliable it is. Simplicity was an original design parameter of the
PRO GEAR engineers and is inherent in every model. Closely examining a PRO
GEAR PG will reveal a minimum of parts, the absence of decorative trim
rings, and the elimination of seams, |

joints, screws, and springs
wherever possible, further enhancing structural integrity and providing the
fewest points for corrosion to begin. The original PRO GEAR PG's even lacked
a warning clicker, an unnecessary feature in most situations.
CONSTRUCTION
All PRO GEAR parts are designed
and build in house, not adapted from other reel manufactures, allowing
complete design freedom. Aluminum components are machined from 6061-T6 stock
and deeply anodized for long term durability and finish. Bearings, pinion
gears, and spool shafts are tempered stainless steel, and main gears are
hard manganese/bronze alloy, NOT soft brass found in other "high
performance" reels. The oversize drags utilize stainless and composite
washers, and the hypalon gripped handles are the most unique and comfortable
in the industry.
